Bharath Urban And Rural Development Trust

Our aim is to create awareness about education, health and sustainable environment as an attempt to holistically develop society, including women and children.

Registered on 03.05.2018 under the Trust Act, BURDS was established with a focus on health, education, and environmental development in Bangalore. The organization conducts environmental awareness programs, health camps, competitions, quizzes for children, and celebrations of national festivals to actively engage the community. Guided by the slogan “Education for All,” we strive to transform lives through meaningful initiatives that support our mission. To date, we have positively impacted over 1,000 beneficiaries in Bangalore Urban District.

Collectively striving towards a society free from exploitation, with accessible facilities of healthcare, hygiene, and education, along with being environmentally sustainable.

OUR MISSION

To indiscriminately empower people, their families and communities by raising awareness, promoting inclusion, reducing poverty, eliminating stigma, meeting basic needs and facilitating access to health, education and livelihood opportunities.

On Teachers' Day, educators are honored with the Mahatma Jyothirao Phule Award. Each year, a selection committee of five members from the the education department chooses five individuals who have achieved excellence in the field of education. For the 2019-2020 year, Dr. S. Putta Swamaiah was awarded this prestigious honor.

Due to COVID-19 crisis, we distributed sanitizers to students at Sunkadakatte, Bangalore. We also explained the uses of sanitizers, importance of hand hygiene, which in turn reduces the chances of contracting disease. Hand sanitizer kill all bacteria and micro-organisms and are very portable.

Dr. K. S. Sanjay, Director of the Indira Gandhi Children’s Health Organization, is dedicated to improve both the health and education of children. We are pleased to highlight his commitment to these causes. This year, our trust has introduced the KSS Fellowship, a scholarship scheme for underprivileged students. In the 2018-19 academic year, two students benefited from this scholarship, and five students received it in 2019-20. For the 2020-21 year, we aim to support 20 students with this scholarship.

We organized free computer training class for youth's in Sunkadakatte, Bengaluru Rural District. Around 150 students benefited from this training.

Trustee

Chandrashekar .C has completed MA in sociology, Bangalore university. Presently as a working in team leader of NGO sector. He is an active leader, social worker and community developer. He give guidelines and advice to our NGO and is also involved in all our NGO activities.

Dr. Nagaraju R.K

Managing Trustee

Dr. Nagaraju R.K. is the managing trustee of the Bharath urban and rural development trust. He completed MA., B.Ed, and Ph.D. at Bangalore University. He is an active leader, social worker and community developer, and has conducted various of health, education and environment related programs.

Lakshmi S

Trustee

She has completed her B.com. at Tumakuru University. Presently, she is working as a team leader in the NGO sector. She is an active leader, a social worker, and a community developer. She gives guidelines and advice to our NGO and is also involved in all our NGO activities.

OBJECTIVES OF BURDS

To work with government education department to impart knowledge on health and conduct safety awareness programs.

To conduct various programs for slum dwellers especially pregnant women on significance of antenatal checkups, importance of breast feeding and various methods of contraceptives and along with spreading the message of small family is a happy family.

To conduct environment development programs in schools and colleges.

Awareness creation among general public on environmental pollution.

Undertaking tree plantation programs on waste lands and village common lands.

Organizing training programs on environment conservation.

To organize Health, Education and environment related sports and cultural activities.

Undertaking awareness camps on solid waste management and recycling of waste.

Undertaking programs to achieve zero pollution and climate change migration.
